Excellent article. I’ll go even further- I bet a lot of these PMC Asian “explainers” can’t even read (Chinese) - they “heard” from someone that WeChat was filled with misinformation and they just repeat that because they can’t verify it themself.

I love how you write about the real views of real people. Not the cartoons that are drawn by our clannish "journalists" who never venture outside the tony boundaries of their class neighborhoods.

But I do have to quibble with your definition of them as the "intelligentsia."

Educated (or indoctrinated) and entitled? For sure. Intelligent? Not by a longshot. Nobody who gets things so consistently wrong is intelligent.

Very perceptive reporting; well done.

It’s darkly comic to see how clear the disparity is between the sort of ideological solidarity among the working class across racial lines in our post-2016 world and our media’s refusal to simply accept it.

I guess your point is also what made all those deep dives into white, middle American Trump voters in 2017 so enlightening to NY Times readers and so entertaining to people like me.

How could Arlie Hochschild and Kathy Cramer not know what they were talking about, but Salena Zito kept nailing it?

I mean, “Experts say studies show.”

You ever notice how MSM reporting shows that Hispanics support undocumented immigration?

Not my Hispanic community.

Allowing immigrants to sneak into the country then live their lives in fear of being suddenly & unexpectedly deported is not anyone's idea of good policy. Our southern border is a disaster and both R's & Dems bear responsibility for refusing to address the problem.

I'm not mad at the migrants. I'm upset that the USA cannot/will not formulate a visa program. It is a political football and good people suffer.
